Thoran 'Bronzebeard' Dardal, Treasurer of the Dardals

Character Name— Thoran 'Bronzebeard' Dardal
Concept— Born into the wealthy and powerful Dardal clan of Markholdt, Thoran took up an axe in the Dwarven military, according to the law and tradition of the Dardal clan. His great pride was his full and magnificent beard. Superb even for a dwarf's beard, it soon became well known that Thoran had one of dwarf-kind's most beautiful beards. Even before his accident, he was known as 'Bronzebeard' due to it's rich bronze coloring, with streaks of gold.

Thoran soon found that he was far better with numbers than he was with an axe, and aided the quartermaster even before he was made one himself. While inspecting progress at a smithy one day, a stray ember flew out of a forge and caught his beard alight, burning it all away. He immediately ran to his chambers and commissioned the forging of a hollow bronze beard which he could strap on until his beard regrew. He refused to show his face until it was completed. To his great dismay, however, the burns caused by the accident rendered him unable to grow any facial hair.

He retreated to more solitary work, which he excelled at, and ordered a beard "protector" from a master metalsmith who had known him (and his beard) well. Bronze inlaid with gold. This was to ensure, he said, that such an accident could never happen to him again. He has since had two more made, and has discarded the crude, quickly made original. Of the three, two are for everyday wear, and one is for formal or special occasions. All are bronze inlaid with gold, the formal beard is also studded with rubies and diamonds, in the shape of the emblem of his clan (a flaming axe).

Now working as the treasurer for the Dardal clan, he heard of a large Dwarven hold being built in Springdale, and is traveling there to assess the economic threat it might present, and, if possible, diminish or eliminate it.
