Dr. Margot Poppins
Character Name— Dr. Margot Poppins
Back story— Only daughter of Dr. Jacques (Jack) and Élise Poppineau. Because they were immigrants from the Montaigne region of the Empire, the couple decided shorten their surname to Poppins, so they would sound less foreign. Dr. Jack Poppins started up a clinic in Harol and he soon became a well-known doctor in the region. Seeing the need for more physicians and doctors, Jack founded the Poppins University for the Healing Arts. Soon after the school opened, a local crime syndicate took notice of the doctor's new found wealth and status. One a group of hustlers came to the clinic and demanded protection so no harm would come to his family. Dr. Poppins simply disregarded the absurd notion and told them to leave. Days later, while alone at home, Élise was brutally sexually assaulted and the house ransacked. Margot, 18 at the time, found her mother in the bath tub crying hysterically and scrubbing her skin raw. Margot treated her mother's wounds, but knew that she could never heal her scarred psyche. Élise refused to be touched by any man ever again, even her own husband could not comfort her. Élise was never the same and her mental health was ever in a downward spiral, it was only a couple years after the assault that she took her own life to free herself from her tormented memories. After seeing the effects of her mother's traumatic experience, Margot knew that she wanted to be a doctor and secretly vowed to protect citizens from such monstrosities. Though her father was the Dean of the university, Margot worked even harder to prove her worth. Margot was an excellent student and passionate about her work. Though she is successful, she still suffers from the memory of her mother's physical and mental trauma. Often she has nightmare of it and wakes up in cold sweats. Margot decided to open a clinic in the growing town of Springdale and hopes to improve the lives of its citizens. Woman's health and education is especially important to Margot.

A Memory Unforgotten:
The dream starts off like it always has, Margot is walking home from medical school. The sun is nearly setting and the air is filled with the fragrance of many blooming lilacs. Though she feels the sun warm her face and is bewitched by the floral aroma, she still can't shake the unsettling feeling she has been plagued by all day. Something just felt wrong, but there seemed to be no reason for it. She isn't far from the house now and the unexplained terror intensifies. Her pace slows as if she is preparing herself for something horrible. The faint beating of her heart begins to quicken and her intuition is affirmed. At the gates, she sees the front door is wide open and everything is in disarray. With each step, her heart beat grows louder as it sinks deeper into her chest. As she enters the wreckage of her once beautiful home, she notices the house seems oddly quite, which makes her presume the worst. Despite her the possibility of her mother being dead, she calls out to her no matter. "Mère!", she shouts, but no response. She walks cautiously as she ventures further inside. Still determined, she calls out again, "Maman, où es-tu?". Still no answer, though she hears a faint splashing sound and runs to the bathing room. At last, there in the tub is her mother, though her back is turned away. She hears quiet mumblings and sobs for the poor woman. As Margot comes closer, she sees the bruises and cuts on her back. Soon she sees redness of the water, but she is not able to make out the words quite yet. She leans over the edge of the tub and says with painfully choked voice, "Mère, qui t'a fait cela?". The woman screams hysterically at first, but soon recognizes her daughter and goes back to scrubbing herself vigorously. As she does such, she keeps repeating "Il ne serait pas laver. La saleté ne serait pas laver!". Now the image fades, yet the words keep echoing in her mind. Suddenly, she's awake, sitting up in bed and drenched in cold perspiration.
